The Process

  • Connector.

    Send to the paint shop

Once we have received the item you would like to be customised, it goes into our dedicated paint shop.

  • Connector.

    Prep and paint

There, it is degreased to remove any contaminants, then painted in your chosen colour, or colours, that will work best with the film.

  • Connector.

    Cut to size

Once dried and quality checked, it is passed over to the hydrographic department where we cut your chosen pattern a few inches larger than the item we will be dipping.

  • Connector.

    Warm the bath

The hydro dipping tank water is warmed up to 28º which is just right for the film pattern to absorb water.

  • Connector.

    Get soaked

The film pattern is placed on top of the the freshly filtered water and left to soak for 60 seconds or until the film has no crinkles or creases.

  • Connector.

Wait for the coating to transform

At this stage the film has a semi gloss look which indicates it has absorbed the water and is semi-liquified.

  • Connector.

    Apply the activator

Next, and appropriate ‘activator’ is selected that suits your item and chosen film pattern. We spray an even coat of activator over the film pattern to achieve a glass-like finish.

  • Connector.

    Immerse your item

We pass your item through the film pattern until it is completely submerged under the water.

  • Connector.

    Remove and dry

Once removed it is rinsed to remove any residue and left to thoroughly dry.

  • Connector.

    Add a durable coating

Once dry it is then given a few layers of clear gloss or matt varnish, depending on the look you would like to achieve.

  • Connector.

    Complete final quality check

Then your item is finished and ready to be collected or shipped back to you.
